Challenge: 100 Posts in 100 days

Hitting the Target: Image by OgiMogi

Okay, so if I really want to kick-start this blogging thing again (I have been blogging since April 2003 but I’ve been very sporadic) do this I need to set myself a target.

My target is 100 posts in 100 days (could you tell from the title?)  I might miss the odd day but I’ll aim to back-fill those days.  It’s quite a challenge but I’m planning on taking some good advice and getting ahead in my posts so that I can have a bit of slack in the system.

To see how I do, wwatch this space . . .

I'm all about the Blogging

Wordpress Login ScreenI’ve recently been doing research on and setting up some blogs for work. We’re going to start using a blog as an internal datastore because:

  • it’s easy to set up
  • it’s searchable
  • it’s free
  • it can be made private
  • it has users and authentication
  • it’s accessible from anywhere on the web
  • the plugins make it customisable

SO, expect to see lots of blogging related posts while i play about with this blog and others

Podcast TV: Stranger Things

ChurchI was getting my weekly escapepod fix and Steve mentioned a new project, Stranger Things, a sort of podcast twilight zone series. I downloaded their premiere episode, which was adapted from a short story by Scott Sigler, and was really impressed. It was a good story, well acted and the special effects were really impressive. They had decided to postpone the launch of the podcast to make this the premiere episode and I’m glad they did. They recently released the second episode (actually two in one) and, while I’d have stuck with them, i wasn’t nearly so impressed with these episodes.

That said, what they’re doing is incredibly brave and must be a huge amount of work, and they deserve credit for that. I’m excited to see what comes out next month.

All Change on Bridawg Blog

Not that I think there are any regular readers of this Blog, but if you’ve been here before then I think you’ll notice some changes.

Coldfishin.net has moved from Titanhosts to Godaddy.  Not there was anything wrong with Titanhosts, but they charge £100 for 100MB per year, with one mysql database.  Our main reason for using them was to get Coldfusion hosting.  Godaddy (and the exchange rate doesn’t hurt here either) offers us 10GB of space for a little less money, and lots of other stuff.

One of the things it doesn’t seem to offer is CGI support in Windows.  That put me in a bind with my blogging, but I’ve moved over to WordPress.  I am having issues, the answers to which I will post, if I solve them, to help others.

Anyhoo, for the moment, there is no archive of old psots, but I’m really enjoying the WordPress interface.

another revamp

I know I’ve been really bad about keeping this blog updates, but I’ve decided to try and be more organised about it. My main problem is that I’ve never really taken to the latest style for the blog. I’m in the middle of revamping the css and layout for this blog, but as soon as I’m done I’ll upload the changes and we’ll see where it goes from there.
