A few months ago a marketing campaign involving a subservient chicken, who would do what he was told wandered across the various mailing lists I’m subscribed to. Now we have the Subservient President! It’s superb. Here’s a list of what I’ve managed to get him to do so far:

I rarely see the Google homepage, since I have a google search bar in my Opera browser, but I do know that Google sometimes to special logos for special events. Today I saw a link to an archive of Google logos. They’re pretty cool!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I don’t have to deal with Hurricans Isabel, but these Nasa photographs are amazing!

I love my Opera Browser. I use it all the time, at work and at home, and only ever start up IE if I’m really stuck. So, being the kind of person who is open to minority browsers, I found these Reasons to switch to the Mozilla Firebird browser quite interesting. I’m trying it, but at the moment I’m spending my time tweaking it to work like my Opera does. It is very neat and clean with a minimal interface which I’m enjoying. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Freeserve have recently started requiring customers to install a “Freeserve Connection Kit” to connect to the service. My mum connects through freeserve, so the last time I was down, I installed it for her. The problem was that, as soon as I was gone, she got back to her usual addiction – Freecell (I played thousands of games of this rather than writing my postgraduate dissertation 😀 – amazing that I still passed).

Anyway, Freecell had suddenly stopped working. There were strange characters in the title bar and the game could not be played. There was an error messaage about a device not being attached.

After shutting everything down except the dialler, the problem remained, but once I shut down the dialler, the problem was gone. So I hit Google, and found lots of people with the same problem, which Freeserve seems to be ignoring. This is their standard response. Not very inpressive.

In the mean-time, Atl-Ctrl-Del and shutting down ATdialler1 solves the problem.

A while ago I created some Veggietales buddy icons for AIM (well, really for Trillian). The images will all have come from other sites, but I think I was the one who turned them all into buddy icons. If not, I certainly did the majority. If anyone has problems with credit or copyright, just leave a comment. You can download the Veggietales Buddy Icons.

Blogshares is great fun, but for the past 12 hours or so it appears to have been offline. 🙁 I hope it comes back. if the problems are cashflow related, maybe this will make more people (including me) think about contributing something.

I really enjoy playing around with Blogshares. It’s even more fun since this nice lady gifted me shares worth about 90,000 blogshare dollars. So I’ve been buying and selling like a wild man. It’s so much easier to make money when you have money to invest. I am going to look around for ways to gift shares to other blogshares users so that I can “spread the love”

We got some spam at work today. not unusual for the number of mailboxes we have. Thi one was in french. It was just one line of text, in Spanish, offering (and I checked this with a spanish colleague) “A vegetable version of the Karma Sutra”. ? ? ? ? ?
