I’m on a cooking kick at the moment. My main source of recipes is Allrecipes.com and I think that, for my reference as much as anyone else’s, I might start “reviewing” the recipes or at least saying how I got on with them.

Wiki-wild wild
I love Wikis, but I can never say the word without thinking of that Will Smith song Wild Wild West
Wikis are amazing. I installed Instiki at work and now pretty much everyone uses it to document work procedures and meetings, and just bits and pieces that there wasn’t a place for before.
I also have my own free wiki with PBWiki. I probably don’t use it as much as I could but that’s just becaues I’m getting over the gradual demise of my PDA. The great thing about the PBwiki (and this is stating the obvious I suppose) is that I can get to it from anywhere. It’s really handy for storing notes on to access between home and the office, and pretty much anywhere else I may be. I can also store files there (disclaimer: by writing about thim on my blog they say they’ll double my storage space – I’m so easily bought), and I could store even more if I’d stump up for a paid membership (if I really get into it, you never know)
Anyway, I’d better stop now – my enthusiastic (read noisy) typing is attracting attention at work ![]()
The Germans will be loving the latest Hasselhoff video. I lived over there for a year and it was amazing to see the stuff that Germans would watch. Don’t even get me asterted on Schlager Musik.
Being a nerd/geek, I don’t usually get to laugh at other geeks/nerds very much, but these guys are hilarious. Fear of Girls is one of the funniest things I’ve seen on the web.
Not that I think there are any regular readers of this Blog, but if you’ve been here before then I think you’ll notice some changes.
Coldfishin.net has moved from Titanhosts to Godaddy. Not there was anything wrong with Titanhosts, but they charge £100 for 100MB per year, with one mysql database. Our main reason for using them was to get Coldfusion hosting. Godaddy (and the exchange rate doesn’t hurt here either) offers us 10GB of space for a little less money, and lots of other stuff.
One of the things it doesn’t seem to offer is CGI support in Windows. That put me in a bind with my blogging, but I’ve moved over to WordPress. I am having issues, the answers to which I will post, if I solve them, to help others.
Anyhoo, for the moment, there is no archive of old psots, but I’m really enjoying the WordPress interface.
What pictures do you have on your phone?

What would God say to you?
After hearing that President Bush may have started the war in Iraq because God told him to, I got to thinking about what God would say if he had the chance.
There will be people who say they hear the voice of God on a daily basis, but I’m not one of them. As a Christian, I have a relationship with him, and certainly he communicates with me, but not in that way. I get communication through what others say, what I read day by day, and in the way my life is guided.
That said, I do believe that I heard God’s voice once. It was part of an exercise where we were trying to hear him, so you can argue that I just wanted to hear something. My question is this – if God could talk to you directly, what would he say?
“Stop picking your nose!”
“Go and feed the Hungry!”
“You’re a really bad person!”
“Sometimes I wonder why I bother!”
I suppose it depends on your point of view. I watched and enjoyed Joan of Arcadia. It was fun, and althrough it’s not real, some of the points it raised were interesting. Joan was told to do many things, often in mysterious and obscure ways. I don’t ever remember God telling her what I believe he told me.
So, by now, you think I’m a psycho, but my point is that it doesn’t really matter whenter I heard him or not. I believe that what he said would have been the same as what I heard, even if I imagined it.
He said “I love you!”
That’s it. No fanfare, no big speech, no instructions on Ark building, just a simple phrase. The point is that that is where it starts. WHatever I may need to do after that, or about that come second to the primary impetus for his relationship with me.
I can’t recommend Philip Yancey’s “What’s so Amazing about Grace” enough.
I’d have to be very careful if I thought he was telling me to take decisions which affected the lives of billions.
Google are going to love this
Alan, a friend from work, has just made this site – it looks amazing. You should check out black tax statistic
Google Maps are Fun
I’ve been palying with the Google Maps API recently and having a lot iof fun. The examples in the API make it very easy to adapt to what you want it ti do. I’m only starting off at the simple end of things, plotting some static points, but it’s encouraging to see that I can get this far without too much effort and could do a bit more if I felt like it.
It’s written in javascript, and I’m pretty clueless in javascript, but it’s simple enough to see what the examples do. Anyway, you can see my map of Churches in Bo’ness.
